Residency Stipend Program

Are you a resident? We want to give you $35,000 per year while you are in residency. Seriously. Imagine what you could do with an extra $35,000 a year.

Pay the interest on student loans while you complete residency?

The experts say that is a smart financial decision and we aren't going to argue. The residency stipend allows you to skip loan deferrment if you choose. Or you can use it for living expenses or invest it for some peace of mind.

We don't stipulate how you must use the money, just as we don't stipulate where you must practice.  We only ask for your commitment to treat underserved populations in rural or metropolitan areas of Tennessee for three or four years after residency. We will help you find a location to practice if you need assistance, but we want your ideas too.

As the comedian Jay Leno once quipped, "The New England Journal of Medicine reports that 9 out of 10 doctors agree that 1 out of 10 doctors is an idiot."

Don't be that guy.

Like many medical students I have had to take out federal and personal loans to make ends meet. The stipend has allowed me to pay off the bulk of my loans and eased my family’s transition out of residency into practice. -John Busigin, MD
